Community Norms
Although many rules and expectations will become clear over time, two of the most important principles that will guide our classroom are human dignity and the value of learning. Each and every person is important and we all have something to contribute to the learning community. The class and school is better off because of each community member. I invite you to watch the 4 min John Green: Open Letter to Students and to think about all the special gifts you have to bring to our learning team.
In the first few weeks of class, we will take some time to reflect on what it means to create a safe, open, real, and present learning environment. Throughout the school year we will also look at how our faith is calling us make loving decisions. School is about learning to learn in community and that is the environment we will strive to create in our classroom. More specific norms and consequences will be looked at as a class.
